Louisville museum hangs iconic moose head in exhibit

If you want to see the moose for yourself, the museum is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 a.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — An iconic piece of history has a permanent home again at the Frazier History Museum.

The Phoenix Hill Tavern moose head now proudly hangs in the Frazier's "Cool History" exhibition.

The 150-pound moose head was first installed in the tavern back in the 1980's where it sat for decades before it closed in 2015.

One year later, the tavern's owner auctioned off the moose head and Joe Kresovsky bought it. But now he and his family are moving, but they wanted to leave the moose head in Louisville.

But after hundreds of offers on Facebook, Kresovsky decided the best course of action was donating it to the Frazier History Museum.

"He's in a great home," he said. "We're really happy to get him back to the public available for selfies and to preserve that history and keep the legacy of Phoenix Hill [Tavern] going."

If you want to see the moose for yourself, the museum is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 a.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
