Last minute shoppers check off items on their shopping list right before Thanksgiving

From forks to rolls, shoppers were checking off their items one-by-one on Thanksgiving-eve.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Inside Value Market, dozens of shoppers stood in line buying everything they need for the last minute Thanksgiving rush.

"We're making what we call an Albuquerque turkey, which is a charcuterie board that has cheese and crackers and veggies on it, that is made to look like a turkey," shopper Robin Guillory said.

Guillory wanted to buy items the day before to make sure they were fresh as possible. She and other shoppers WHAS11 talked to said they had no problems finding items.

"I've been shopping at Value [Market] for 13 years so I know where everything is," Guillory said.

This year, Dr. Robert Nold is responsible for hosting Thanksgiving dinner at his place, and is in charge of the turkey and dressing.

He went to Value Market to pick up soft drinks and to replace his outdated milk.

"I thought I would get a little milk and I'm going to get some bread because I used all my bread to make my stuffing, so that's about it today," Nold said.

Folks came in at the last minute and grabbed everything from canned goods like candied yams to rolls, to make Thanksgiving dinner spectacular.

Experts said Thanksgiving dinner this year is more cost friendly than last year.

Kakeisha Ramos said she's picking up "some cutlery, some tea, some plates some forks and good stuff."

Although Ramos isn't cooking, she's grateful to spend time with her family.

"Family feast, everybody talks about what they want for Christmas, and what they're going to do for Christmas, and play some games," Ramos said.

For others, it's a time to reflect and be thankful for what they have.

Shopper Thomas Murrell said he's "thankful to see another one and to see friends."

And Nord has a message for those who may be grieving loved ones.

"Despite some of the grief that people go through during the holidays, having lost loved ones, it's still a lot to be thankful for," he said.

Hoping everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving.
