Bullitt County first responders collecting donations for flooded areas in Tennessee, North Carolina

They will accept donations at select locations from 8 a.m. to noon.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Bullitt County first responders have teamed up to collect supplies for people impacted by flooding in North Carolina and Tennessee.

Hurricane Helene was a Category 4 storm that first struck Florida’s Gulf Coast on Sept. 26, dumped trillions of gallons of rain and left a trail of destruction for hundreds of miles across several states. At least 246 people have died in what is now the deadliest hurricane to hit the mainland U.S. since Katrina, according to statistics from the National Hurricane Center.

Through Oct. 28, the first responders will be accepting donations at a variety of locations.

They are looking for the following items:

  • Hot Hands
  • Animal food
  • Double A&D batteries
  • Flashlights
  • 5-gallon buckets with lids
  • Work gloves that aren't latex
  • New pillows
  • Tools, shovels and brooms
  • Charcoal
  • Fire starter and lighters
  • Gas cans
  • Non-dairy baby formula
  • Cleaning supplies

Here's when and where you can drop off the items:

  • Mt. Washington farmers market: Oct. 15 and Oct. 16
  • Hillview Police Department parking lot: Oct. 17 and Oct. 18
  • Shepherdsville Walmart: Oct. 21 through Oct. 23
  • Behind the Lebanon Junction firehouse: Oct. 24 and Oct. 25

They will accept the donations from 8 a.m. to noon.

If you have a question or live outside of Bullitt County and still wish to donate, you can call either Michael Wright at (502) 910-8794 or Justin Warren at (502) 492-9976.
