LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Kentucky-native, Miss Earth USA Danielle Mullins, is headed to Asia to compete for the international title, Miss Earth.
While she’s been Miss Earth USA, Mullins said she’s visited almost 20 states and worked with various organizations to help “make a difference for our environment.”
“I volunteered with multiple wildlife centers,” Mullins said. “I’ve planted trees with different organizations. I’ve picked up trash with different organizations, but I’ve also got to do some really cool things.”
She also recently had a makeup collection come out with The LadyCode Shop. According to the business' social media, 10% of the proceeds from the mascara goes to Wands for Wildlife.
And while she claims she isn’t athletic, she also played in the annual charity kickball tournament with Jack Harlow and found a love of ballroom dancing after Let’s Dance, Louisville.
“This is where I breathe into a paper bag very heavily,” Mullins said after being asked if she’s ready for the competition.
She leaves for the Philippines in about 18 days and will spend a week there before heading over to Vietnam for another five weeks’ worth of competition.
“It’s a lot of service projects, the shows and the different competitions are spread out over time, but then there’s some smaller shows as well we’ll do to help promote some eco-tourism in the area,” Mullins said.
She said what makes the Miss Earth competition so unique is the focus on the environment.
“All pageants have a heart for something, a reason behind the crown,” Mullins said. “We say we’re beauty for a cause, more than a pretty face; a face for change. And for me, I realize that this is our only home. There is no planet B. So, this is my way of paying rent to the earth is to help make a difference and lead that change.”
