LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Wednesday was a great day for a lot of felines in Louisville. The Purrfect Day Cat Cafe broke its own record by finding homes for 19 kittens in one day, according to a post on its Facebook page.
"We broke a new record yesterday -19 total kitties found their furrever homes! What a wonderful community," the cafe said in the post.
Throughout the day on Thursday, the cafe shared pictures of each kitten as it found its owner. Some adopters even took home two kittens at once!
When the Purrfect Day Cat Cafe opened on Bardstown Road in August 2018, owner Chuck Patton had a goal of finding forever homes for 300 cats and kittens by the end of that year. He and his team surpassed that goal within three months and as of June 25, 2020, more than 2,600 animals have been adopted through the cafe.
Kittens and cats at the cafe are rescued from Louisville and surrounding counties through the Kentucky Humane Society.
"It’s amazing how much this one facility is helping to change the needle and helping us to save the lives of more at-risk cats," Kentucky Humane Society’s Andrea Blair said in 2019.
The Purrfect Day Cat Cafe is now open after closing due to the coronavirus pandemic, but at a limited capacity. Guests are encouraged to wear masks and social distance when they visit the cafe.
Guests can book an appointment at the cat lounge on the Purrfect Day Cat Cafe website.
