Anonymous tip leads Louisville Metro Police to dog fighting arrest

"We're relieved he's facing several felony charges," authorities said.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — An anonymous tip helped Louisville Metro Police (LMPD) arrest an alleged dog fighter in June.

In a social media post, the department said a detailed tip led them to a home on Lillian Avenue where they arrested 47-year-old Kareem Garner for dog fighting and animal cruelty.

LMPD's investigation revealed Garner is well known in the region for dog fighting, and that he's been doing it for a long time.

"We're relieved he's facing several felony charges," authorities said.

In a search warrant executed earlier this month, officers found four dogs that were in terrible living conditions, and that some of them have heartworms according to authorities.

Other items LMPD said officers recovered were medications, weighted collars, dog fighting paperwork, scales "and other evidence indictive of dog fighting."

All of the dogs are at Louisville Metro Animal Services receiving care police said.

"Again, tipster, you know who you are... THANK YOU for reporting!" they wrote.
