Man sentenced for murder of New Albany woman

On Thursday, the Floyd County prosecutor celebrated the sentencing, saying this type of violence is unacceptable.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A man who killed a 64 year old woman in New Albany a year ago was sentenced to 45 years in prison.

On Nov. 16, 2023, Donteregan Sanders and his aunt, Earlean Deloney, got into a verbal argument that quickly turned physical. A witness said they saw Sanders stomping on Deloney's head and shoulder multiple times.

He then changed clothes and left; he was later arrested at a bowling alley in neighboring Clarksville.

On Thursday, the Floyd County prosecutor celebrated the sentencing, saying this type of violence is unacceptable.

"We wont put up with it in our community this is a tragic senseless act of violence unacceptable in our community so we're very, with the outcome today, we'll continue to hold those accountable who hurt people in our community," prosecutor Chris Lane said.

Thursday's sentencing was the result of a guilty plea agreement.
