LOUISVILLE (WHAS11) – An Ex-NBA player accused of hitting and killing a woman at Dixie Highway and Ratcliffe earlier in June appeared in court on June 25.
Anthony Grundy, a former Carolina state and Atlanta Hawks player, turned himself into police custody but pleaded not guilty at his arraignment.
Grundy was assigned a public defender upon request; although, the prosecutor called it a tactic to delay the "inevitable" in this case, calling Grundy a "flight" and a "danger."
Grundy’s arrest slip shows he admitted to driving the red Jeep involved in the collision and he knew he hit "something" but didn't know what it was and continued driving.
According to his arrest report, Grundy was also driving without insurance, without a license, and expired license plates.
This also wasn't the first time Grundy has been charged with driving while impaired. He was arrested three times and charged with a DWI in North Carolina and then again in Louisville in 2017.
At this point, Grundy is not allowed to drive without valid insurance or a license.
He's set to appear in court again on July 5, once he has a public defender confirmed.
