Juvenile arrested for making social media threat to Elizabethtown middle school

A boy was charged with terroristic threatening Monday after a threat was made against T.K. Stone Middle School.

ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. — Elizabethtown Police Department arrested a boy under the age of 18 after he was accused of threatening a local middle school.

On Monday, administrators at T.K. Stone Middle School announced they were made aware of a potential social media threat concerning the school, according to a school Facebook post.

Elizabethtown Police determined the threat was not credible however, out an abundance of caution, there was additional law enforcement presence at the school on Monday.

Approximately 12 hours after the receiving the initial report, investigators said they identified a juvenile male as a suspect.

Monday evening, the boy was arrested, charged with terroristic threatening and lodged in a juvenile detention facility.

"I hope this sends a strong message that threats of any kind against our schools, students, or staff will not be tolerated. We will continue to take swift and consistent action in every instance where such behavior occurs," Elizabethtown Police Department said in a news release.
