FRANKFORT, Ky. — A dayslong manhunt for a man wanted for murder in Franklin County has come to an end.
Kentucky State Police (KSP) arrested 60-year-old Steven Girtley early Thursday morning. He's accused of fatally shooting his son, Justin Girtley, 36, after an altercation at a home on Flat Creek Road on Saturday, Nov. 9.
State troopers said, after the shooting, Steven Girtley fled the house into a wooded area before police could arrive.
According to court documents, multiple witnesses identified Steven as Justin's father and one witness told KSP they saw Girtley raise a handgun and shoot his son before he fled the scene.
Steven Girtley was arrested five days later inside a barn on his property in Franklin County just before 1 a.m. on Nov. 14.
He has been lodged at the Franklin County Detention Center.
Girtley was arraigned Thursday morning, hours after his arrest. A judge set his bond at $500,000.
He will be back in court on Nov. 19.
