LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville Metro Police are still looking for any tips after a man and an 8-year-old child were shot on Sunday.
Police said the incident happened in the 100 block of Kingston Avenue at the Heritage Green Apartments just before 9:30 p.m. Sunday.
Officers found the 8-year-old boy and a man suffering from a gunshot wound.
Metro Police believe the shooting stemmed from a drive-by shooting.
It’s unclear if the man and child are related. Police said they were released from the hospitals on Monday.
Neighbors in the area were left shaken and frustrated by the situation.
Mark Wilder, who lives at the complex, said the violence has to stop and that he fears for the young people living in the complex after Sunday's shooting.
"Who's going to be the next kid that gets shot around here?" he asked.
But neighbors said they're not surprised by the violence; they're just hoping the shooting raises awareness for heightened security.
"It's not that many security around here; when I walk to the store I might see a couple of them, that's it," Wilder said.
And neighbors were hopeful for the victims' recovery as police work to find who is responsible.
"I just hope that kid pulls through," Wilder said.
