Woman arrested for fatal crash in Bullitt County

Two elderly people died as a result of the crash.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Authorities have arrested a woman who is accused of causing a fatal crash that happened in Bullitt County back in June.

It happened at the intersection of Old Preston Highway and Preston Highway on Wednesday, June 5.

Police said two cars collided in the middle of a flashing red light, which operates as an all way stop.

Two elderly people were killed in the crash.

Now, over four months later, investigators arrested 31-year-old Dawn Middleton.

Police said nearby surveillance video shows her blowing through the traffic light. They also said she confessed to using substances before the crash on a jail phone call to her husband.

She's been charged with murder, operating a car under the influence of a controlled substance, and disregarding a traffic light.

She's expected to appear in court on Monday at 9 a.m.
