LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Spalding University's next president will assume her new role on New Year's Day.
Jill Gaines with the university said Anne Kenworthy will be Spalding's 11th president.
Kenworthy has worked at two private universities: the University of Findlay in Ohio and the Christian Brothers University in Tennessee. She also worked at the University of Memphis.
"I am excited and humbled to be starting the new year as a member of the Spalding University community," Kenworthy said. "I have been impressed with Spalding's reputation for meeting the needs of the times, and I am committed to expanding Spalding’s reach and impact in the region."
Kenworthy holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and a Doctor of Education degree in higher education.
"Dr. Kenworthy’s exemplary leadership and dedication to mission-driven education make her an ideal fit for Spalding University," Kellie Sheryak, the Board of Trustees chair at Spalding University, said. "Her commitment to service, both in education and the broader community, aligns with the legacy of the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth, who founded this institution. We are excited to see how her vision will advance our educational excellence mission and promote peace and justice."
The university's 10th president, Tori Murden McClure, retired after 25 years with the college.
McClure said during her retirement she wants to learn how to weld, learn how to sail, build more boats and more.
