5 year old hospitalized after taking medicine is back home

Tabitha Drew said her daughter Rayven was released from the hospital Friday afternoon after spending time in the ICU in Louisville.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A 5 year old girl hospitalized after taking a prescription medicine from a Henry County, Kentucky pharmacy is back at home.

Tabitha Drew told WHAS11 her daughter Rayven was released from the hospital Friday afternoon after spending time in the ICU in Louisville.

She was one of three children hospitalized after taking Clonidine from Med Save Pharmacy.

Drew said the pharmacy had called her before Rayven took the medicine.

"He said, 'We've got a notice that we have a bad batch of clonidine, we wanted to make sure she did not get it,'" she said. "I let him know at the time I did not have my daughter, the bottle was sitting in my refrigerator and had not been touched. He said, 'when do you get your daughter back,' I said Sunday night. Sunday night he asked me when I give her the medicine if anything happens please contact him."

The Kentucky Board of Pharmacy ordered Med Save to stop compounding medicine after their investigators found the store wasn't compliant with standards, including a lack of training, lack of oversight and missing documentation.
