LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Authorities have recovered a fourth body from a fatal house fire in Carroll County.
The massive fire was reported Thursday around 6 a.m. in the 200 block of 5th Street in downtown Carrollton, an hour north of Louisville.
Fire crews found the two-story home engulfed in flames.
Police found a three-year-old girl near the home’s back door and rescued her. She was airlifted to a Louisville hospital and continues to recover, according to police. It’s unclear when the little girl will be released from care.
Three other victims were found inside the charred remains of the home on Friday while the fourth victim was found on Saturday.
The victims in the incident will be identified by the Kentucky Medical Examiner’s office.
“The Carrollton Police Department would like to thank everyone that played a role in the recovery or assisted those that were involved in the recovery. We are proud of this community and its ability to pull together during the worst of circumstances,” Carrollton Police said in a statement.
Police are urging people to pray for the family and rally behind the community.
