LEXINGTON, Ky. — A city in Kentucky made the top ten list of the friendliest cities in the United States.
Lexington was ranked the #3 most friendly city in the U.S. by Conde Nast Traveler's Readers' Choice Awards in 2023.
The website says over the last few years, they have been asking readers to rate a city's friendliness. They asked people to consider whether or not they felt welcomed when they traveled there, if an outgoing local went out of their way to give you directions, whether or not the city was easy to navigate, and if you, as a traveler, got "good vibes" from the people around you.
Despite being Kentucky's second-largest city by population behind Louisville, Lexington touts its small-town community atmosphere filled with friendly locals.
Lexington, known as the horse capital of the world, is home to Kentucky Horse Park and the Keeneland Race Course; however, CNT editors say there is more than just horses to draw you into this place.
Thanks to its location of the Kentucky Bourbon Trail, Lexington is packed with distilleries and fantastic restaurants. Lexington would be a great trip for anyone who appreciates bourbon, good food and horses.
A nearby city in Indiana also made the list. Indianapolis was named the fourth most friendly city in the U.S., just behind Lexington. CNT said part of the reason Indy made the list was because it has become a foodie destination.
