79-year-old man, teen die in separate Kentucky house fires

Officers are investigating a deadly fire in Oldham County and state police are investigating a deadly fire in Corbin, Kentucky.

Officers in two Kentucky towns are investigating deadly house fires that killed an elderly man and teenager.

In Corbin, Kentucky, police say a teen died and two adults were injured when their home caught fire. Kentucky State Police Trooper Shane Jacobs told WYMT-TV that the blaze was reported about 3 a.m.

Monday at a mobile home in Corbin. Jacobs said a teenager died in the fire. He says the teen’s aunt and her boyfriend were injured and taken to a hospital.

The teen lived with the aunt. It wasn’t immediately clear how the blaze began. No further information was immediately available.

In Oldham County, police confirm one person died in a house fire on South Buckeye Lane overnight Saturday. Major Johnson tells WHAS11 News the call came in just after midnight. Johsons says a couple in their 70s were home when the fire started. The wife was able to get out, but her 79-year-old husband was unable to make it out, Johnson says.

Johnson says at this point it’s a death investigation related to a house fire, unless the autopsy or report from the fire investigators shows anything suspicious.
