LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Officials received only to proposals from developers on how to revitalize the old Clarksville Plaza space in southern Indiana.
The 7.33-acre space sits across the street from the Green Tree Mall on on Lewis and Clark Parkway. The property includes a 100,000-square-foot building, which used to be home to a Hobby Lobby and Harbor Freight Tools.
In late-October, the Clarksville Redevelopment Commission put out a request for proposals from developers looking to take over the space. Deadlines for submissions ended on Nov. 20, and officials had only received two projects.
According to Economic Development Director Tammi Gibson, both projects involved retail establishments. No residential projects were submitted to the commission by the deadline.
It's unknown which developers are looking to redevelop the location.
What comes next?
Gibson said a committee will now review both proposals and score them based on a predetermined set of criteria.
The committee will include Gibson, Town Manager Kevin Baity, two members of the Redevelopment Commission and another town department head.
Once scoring is complete, the findings will be reported to the Redevelopment Commission to make a decision.
The Clarksville Redevelopment Commission is expected to discuss the two proposals at its next meeting on Dec. 20.
