'It's sickening' | No charges made in Dosker Manor shooting that killed 39-year-old

Antwawn Shackelford was shot and killed at the apartment complex on Nov. 11.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Over a month after his son's death, Glenn Shackelford's still wondering why an arrest hasn't been made.

"This don't add up," he said, holding the police report from the incident. It names the man who shot 39-year-old Antwawn Shackelford; however, no charges have been filed against him.

"Now you got people scared to come out of their house because this stuff is going on," Glenn said. "Just clean Dosker Manor up, that's my prayer, is that that happens to get foreclosure on my son, a senseless death."

Antwawn, who was shot and killed at Dosker Manor on Nov. 11, was a security guard at the Louisville Metro Housing Authority apartment complex. His cousin and step-sister previously told WHAS11 the shooting stemmed from an argument over a kayak left in a hallway.

Now the family's search for peace is intertwined with their call for justice. They wonder why the man who shot Antwawn is out of jail.

One of his brothers, who spoke to WHAS11 anonymously, holds on to the memory of catching his first fish alongside Antwawn.

"I think he really cherished that moment," he said. "Even outside the fishing, just really getting to spend time with his little brother. Through the good and the bad, he really enjoyed spending a lot of time with me."

Antwawn also left behind a wife and children, who are now preparing to spend their first holidays without him.

"What kinda Christmas they gonna have," William Courtney, Antwawn's uncle, said. "It's sad. It's got me sad, it's got our family sad, it's sickening. So we gotta bring this thing to a closure."

Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) said it will hand the case over to the Commonwealth Attorney's Office. They will assign a prosecutor once it is received.
