LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville Metro Police continue to investigate a deadly shooting over the weekend near the Louisville Slugger Museum on Main Street.
When police arrived at the scene early Sunday morning, officers found 31-year-old Devontae Beach dead inside of his car.
Businesses are expressing concern because the area is popular with tourists and worry the latest shooting could continue to contribute to a stigma around downtown Louisville.
"Anytime anything like this happens, I don't know it's just bad for downtown and tourist traffic," Callie, a Barista at Blackbeard Espresso on Main Street, said. The coffee shop is just across the street from the Kentucky Science Center, which was hit with gunfire during the shooting.
A bullet hole in the Science Center's window wasn't the only damage, another bullet hole could be found in a statue nearby.
"A lot of people think it's scarier than it actually is, and then you'll see stuff like this, and you'll be like oh my god I told you, there's people shooting people out there, but it really isn't that common at least in that area," Callie said. "Hopefully it doesn't deter people from coming down here more often."
Currently, LMPD is still working on the investigation. It is not known if this shooting is connected to the concert at the KFC Yum! Center on Saturday night where hometown Rapper EST Gee was performing.
If you have any information on the shooting, you're asked to call 502-574-LMPD.
