LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Winter is coming!

It's getting chilly out there and with colder weather comes one of natures most mesmerizing and occasionally inconvenient phenomenon — snow.

Kentuckiana saw its first snowflakes of the season on Thursday.

While it didn't stick around for long, there were brief moments where it would stay on the ground. It mostly stuck to grassy or elevated surfaces.

Mallory Schnell with the WHAS11 Weather Impact Team said the snow had an easier time sticking for our neighbors to the north, especially Indy!

Indianapolis saw between 2-4 inches of snow. Cincinnati follows close behind with 1.5 to 2.5 inches of snow.

Frankfort, Lexington, Georgetown and Madison, Kentucky all saw an inch of snow.

Sadly, for many of us in Louisville, we only saw 0.1 inches of snow.

Winter is coming so there may be more chances for snow later in the year.

As for the weekend, we'll be back to warmer fall weather through the weekend.

Schnell said clouds will be slow to clear Saturday, but highs rebound slightly into the low 50s. Sunday will be pleasant, with mostly sunny skies and highs near 60°!
