CLARKSVILLE, Ind. — A Clark County man has been arrested after he lied about where he was living. He is a convicted sex offender and was living less than 1000 feet away from Clarksville Middle and High School.
According to a release by the Clark County Sheriff's Office, 35-year-old David Blair was arrested on Wednesday following an investigation. The investigation found that Blair, who was convicted of child molestation in 2006 and will be on the sex offender registry until 2022, was lying about where currently lived.
Officials found Blair living at the Garden Court Condominiums on Ettels Lane. The condos are less than a quarter of a mile away from Clarksville Middle School and less than half a mile away from Clarksville Senior High School.
Blair was arrested and has been charged with failing to register as a sex offender, which is a Level 6 felony.
"Proactively investigating sex offenders who are intentionally living in close proximity to children is a top priority for the Clark County Sheriff's Office," said Colonel Scottie Maples. "We will continue to seek out, arrest, and put any sex offender who is noncompliant in jail."
