LOUISVILLE, Ky. — While 2023 may not have been life changing for most, some Kentuckians who played the Kentucky Lottery could beg to differ.
According to lottery officials, 20 Kentuckians won $1 million or more playing the lottery this year. The largest winners were two people who won the top $3 million prize on the $30 scratch-off game, Mega Multiplier, a spokesperson said.
More than 100 other people were big winners in Kentucky and won prizes of $100,000 or more.
In total, the Kentucky Lottery paid out over $1.4 billion in prizes in 2023.

Since 1989, proceeds from the lottery tickets have raised almost $7 billion for good causes, Kentucky Lottery officials said, adding that since 1999, $4.8 billion has gone to grants and scholarship programs for Kentuckians' college costs.
