LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Louisville Metro Police officer that was shot in the Chickasaw neighborhood while trying to conduct a traffic stop is recovering on Friday from an unexpected surgery.

The Louisville Metro Police Foundation posted on social media that Officer Brandon Haley has undergone about a dozen surgeries, but is surrounded by his supportive family. They added he also attends physical therapy three times a week.

"We are deeply grateful for the remarkable progress Officer Haley has made, and for the overwhelming support from all of you," they wrote.

But now, Haley is recovering from an unexpected surgery, and the Foundation hoped this procedure marked a turning point in his recovery.

If you would like to support Haley and his family, you can donate through the Foundation here or send money to their Venmo account, LouisvilleMetro-PoliceFoundati.
