If you received a text from 'RiverLink' about paying tolls, officials warn it's a scam

The real RiverLink is working to have any fraudulent websites removed.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — RiverLink is warning its customers to be on the lookout for scammers attempting to impersonate the tolling service for three bridges connecting Kentucky and southern Indiana.

On Thursday, the company said a new text smishing attempt includes a link with the sender listed as "RiverLinks" or "Kentucky Toll Roads."

These texts aren't from RiverLink and are scammers looking to gain people's personal information, officials warned.

"Recepients are urged to closely review any text messages received and ensure all links are valid and pointing to RiverLink.com," officials advised. "RiverLink does not share toll charge notifications via text message, only low-balance and auto-replenishment reminders for customers with prepaid accounts."

RiverLink said it's working to have the fraudulent websites removed.

Anyone who clicked on the fraudulent links and provided their personal information is urged to contact their bank or credit card provider as soon as possible to secure their information and accounts.

Drivers without a prepaid RiverLink account can check tolls owed by clicking here and selecting the green "Pay Bill" button.

Any driver with a prepaid account can also check their crossings by logging into RiverLink's website.

The FBI warned of a similar toll bridge scam text message earlier this year.
