LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville's mayor and Transit Authority of River City (TARC) officials revealed on Friday who will be the new interim executive director.
According to a news release, Ozzy Gibson will start at the beginning of January.
Gibson has worked with Metro Government in various roles over the span of three decades, including his current position as the interim executive director at Louisville Parks and Recreation.
“For more than 30 years Ozzy has proudly served our city, first as a police officer and then as a leader with Metro Animal Services, Public Health, Public Works, Fleet & Facilities, and Louisville Parks and Recreation,” Mayor Craig Greenberg said. “He will bring his excellent communication and leadership skills to TARC while we search for a permanent Executive Director. We are incredibly grateful for his commitment to Metro Government and to the people of Louisville.”
The current executive director, Carrie Butler, announced her resignation on Nov. 14.
Butler joined TARC in August 2020 when the organization was plagued by many problems including investigations involving personnel and financial improprieties from the previous administration; the COVID-19 pandemic and the challenges of declining ridership and revenue and a reduced workforce.
