BULLITT COUNTY, Ky. — Two people are in custody and one is facing murder charges after a shooting in Bullitt County left one person dead, according to an arrest citation.

Shortly after 11 a.m. on Sunday deputies and officers with the Hillview Police Department responded to the 1400 block of West Hebron Lane about a shooting.

When they got there they found a man with multiple gunshot wounds inside the home.

The man was later identified by the coroner as 41-year-old Yuri Valcarcel-Herrera.

He was taken to the UofL hospital for treatment and later died from his injuries.

According to an arrest citation, 20-year-old Juanell Mucker Jr. and 24-year-old Benjamin Williams arrived to Valcarcel-Herrera's home in the 1400 block of West Hebron Lane around 11:15 a.m.

Police say all three knew each other previously.

Shortly after Williams and Mucker arrive, shots are fired towards Valcarcel-Herrera, his brother, and his sister-in-law.

The brother fires more shots in self-defense of Valcarcel-Herrera who was unarmed, the citation said.

Valcarcel-Herrera was shot in the chest and died of his injuries at the hospital.

Police say rounds from the shooting were also in the walls of the home. They say another family member was also in the home at the time of the shooting.

Mucker and Williams are both facing charges of murder, attempted murder, first degree wanton endangerment, tampering with physical evidence and fleeing or evading police on foot.
