LOUISVILLE, Ky. — If Louisville's winter weather has you craving a trip to the beach, the latest announcement from the Muhammad Ali International Airport (SDF) should be some welcome news.
The airport said Tuesday that Spirit Airlines will begin nonstop service from Louisville to Myrtle Beach ahead of Memorial Day weekend, starting May 26, 2022. The flights will be offered two to three times a week.
This is the seventh destination through Spirit since the airline arrived in Louisville in May 2021. Other routes available through Spirit Airlines include Fort Lauderdale, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Orlando.
The airline will also provide a special nonstop service from Baltimore, Chicago O'Hare, Detroit and Newark to Louisville in May to allow more fans to experience the Kentucky Derby in 2022.
"We feel strongly it's going to be a good year at SDF," said Dan Mann, the executive director of the Louisville Regional Airport Authority.
Tickets to Myrtle Beach and other Spirit destinations can be purchased online at spirit.com.
