LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The first Monday of fall will bring cloudy skies and approaching rain showers that will develop into a few thunderstorms later in the day. We start off with mostly cloudy conditions. Expect a few small showers to arrive around the early afternoon hours.
After noon is when we expect the heavier rain showers to develop and last for the remainder of the day. Thunderstorms will be possible as well as the evening hours arrive.
Past 4 p.m., showers will become more widespread, with a few embedded thunderstorms possible that will produce some locally heavy showers and some slightly gusty winds for a brief period. Showers will last into the early evening.
There is a marginal risk that a few thunderstorms could be a bit stronger than others. A few could include gusty winds and frequent lightning.
This pattern does carry over into our Tuesday with another round of thunderstorms becoming possible as the evening hours get closer. By Tuesday night, some areas could see a little more than two inches of rainfall. It is much needed considering the region is experiencing a slight drought.
