Massive tree topples onto mobile home in southern Indiana during severe weather

“We’ve always had storms around here, but nothing like this ever hit us.”

CLARK COUNTY, Ind. — The National Weather Service of Louisville has yet to confirm if any tornadoes touched down in Kentucky or southern Indiana after a strong line of severe weather trekked through the region Tuesday afternoon.

Even still, damage could be seen in some parts of Kentucky and southern Indiana.

Strong winds toppled a massive tree that fell onto one home in the Silver Lakes Point Mobile Home community in Cementville, Indiana, which is located just north of Clarksville.

The homeowner told WHAS11 he watched from his kitchen window as the tree fell onto his shed and porch, ripping up large chunks of sidewalk along with it.

One woman said her parents live next door and called her saying the tree had also damaged part of their home as well.

“It actually did damage to the roof, as well to the walls it made some cracks, and then in the ceiling it also damaged it and right now it’s leaking water [from rain],” Danya told WHAS11. “We’ve always had storms around here, but nothing like this ever hit us.”

Glen Stevens, another neighbor who rode out the storm with his dog in a shed, said he hasn’t seen this kind of storm damage.

“[Those] are 150-year-old trees, it ain’t like some of these other mobile home parks, these guys are huge,” he said.
