LOUISVILLE, Ky. — As the ghouls and goblins get ready for trick-or-treating, you may want to think about grabbing some rain gear as well. Rain showers are likely for our Halloween afternoon and evening, so ponchos and umbrellas will be a good idea.
Thursday morning will start off warm, dry, and a bit breezy. The rain will be arriving from west to east through the afternoon. The wettest conditions look to be during the late afternoon and early evening.
There are indications that the rain could begin to taper off for some areas west of I-65 toward sunset.
This is much-needed rainfall, and will help keep our area from a significant drought.
While this won't be a huge soaker, around 1/4" to 1/2" of total rainfall can be expected. This will also help reduce wild fire danger by adding some moisture to the ground and leaves.
FUTURECAST TIMING
IMPACTS
The rain showers could bring some gusty winds around 20-35 mph, but severe weather is not expected.
Make sure to keep a close eye on the trick-or-treaters with the wet pavement and lower visibility.
After Halloween, our weekend will be mostly dry and pleasant. The warmer than normal weather pattern will continue into November with upper 70s for Election Day. Some rain could return by late Tuesday.
