A Louisville man has been charged in a deadly head-on crash last month that killed a police officer's wife.
The Jefferson County Grand Jury indicted 42-year-old Adam Sanders on Wednesday, charging him with murder, first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree criminal mischief, operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicants and speeding.
According to the Commonwealth's Attorney Office, Sanders' charges stem from a Jan. 13 crash on Taylorsville Lake Road.
Witnesses told police Sanders was allegedly driving "erratically" before he swerved into the oncoming lane of traffic.
Erendida Lane, 40, died in the hospital from injuries sustained in the crash.
Lane, a Chancey Elementary School instructor and wife of Louisville Metro Police Sergeant Chris Lane, was driving with her 14-year-old daughter who was also injured, but is expected to make a full recovery.
The LMPD Foundation created a fundraiser to support Lane's family in the aftermath of her loss.
Prosecutors said Sanders was arrested at his home in Oldham County late Tuesday night.
He was arraigned Wednesday morning. A judge set his bond at $250,000 but he will only need to post 10%, or $25,000, of the bond.
