Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) officials are confident students' first day of school on Thursday will be smoother than it was last year.

Superintendent Marty Pollio is hopeful it will be better getting students to and from school this year with the district implementing a new transportation plan that has been optimized for efficiency. Read more

JCPS parents: Download the bus finder app before the first day of school

The district has reduced the length of routes, hired more drivers and discontinued bus routes to certain traditional and magnet schools.

JCPS also released a bus finder app so parents can have peace of mind while their children ride the bus. Click here to learn how to download the app and track buses.

Call the JCPS Hotline

Parents who still have questions about the transportation plan can call the (502) 485-RIDE. JCPS also has a designated phone number for questions concerning bus routes. You can call (502) 485-3470 or call your child's school.

The district notes that once school starts, you can get information quickly from the bus compounds.

JCPS families needing assistance with clothing can receive them through the district's Clothing Assistance Program (CAP).

Eligible students can receive a new pair of khaki or navy uniform pants; a new polo-style uniform shirt; a new belt; five new pairs of white socks; five new pairs of underwear. The CAP also provides families to shop assorted gently used clothing and is free. However, an appointment must be made through a JCPS Family Resource and Youth Service Center. Read more.
