'I told her it was going to be okay': Louisville family in mourning after weekend hit-and-run

There were two fatal hit-and-runs over the weekend.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Destinee Marshall and other family members are mourning the loss of 26-year-old Desiree Marshall after she was hit by a car Saturday night.

"We were outside lighting fireworks and a car came through he hit her, she flipped a couple times in the air, she hit the ground and he kept going," Destinee said.

She immediately sprung into action to save her sister.

"I ran over there to her and I rubbed her back and I told her it was going to be okay and then I went to go get my mom," Destinee said.

Orange markers are left in the street showing just how far Desiree was thrown.

It all happened within a blink of an eye.

"It was like a white, four door, heavy black tint, that's really all I could remember," Destinee said.

Louisville Metro Police still need help identifying the vehicle which they believe is possibly a Mazda.

Destinee has one message for the driver.

"I just feel like you should turn yourself in, she was innocent and didn't deserve any of that, there is other ways to go around the fireworks," she said.

Sunday night, police said another woman was left for dead after being hit by a vehicle and left in an alley in Old Louisville.

Kelly Dormody, who lives two blocks away from where it happened, said drivers "will speed down here."

Police have not yet released any information about the victim from the Sunday incident.
