Commonwealth Attorney's Office finds LMPD officers justified in two 2023 shootings

LMPD is still reviewing if officers in both cases followed department policies and procedures.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Commonwealth's Attorney's Office found Louisville Metro Police (LMPD) officers were justified in two 2023 shootings on Tuesday.

The first happened on Oct. 24, 2023 on South 26th Street near Garland.

LMPD investigators said they were responding to a home invasion call when the suspect, Sylvester Price, pointed a gun at them while trying to run away.

Four officers did fire their weapons according to authorities.

Price did survive that shooting and is charged in the case.

The other shooting was on Dec. 14, 2023 in the Portland neighborhood.

Officers responded to North 25th Street where police said Kenneth Clark was holding three people hostage.

LMPD said Clark shot and killed one of the hostages before two officers shot him.

LMPD is still reviewing if officers in both cases followed department policies and procedures.
