Here's where Louisville stands in latest College Football Playoff rankings

The Cardinals take on rival Kentucky this Saturday on WHAS11 before the ACC title game against Florida State next week.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Fans of the University of Louisville football team should be rooting for chaos if they want to make it to the College Football Playoff.

The Cardinals (10-1, 7-1 ACC) are ranked No. 10 for the second straight week in the CFP rankings, which were released Tuesday night on ESPN. Louisville needs to win their final two games against Kentucky and Florida State, and then hope for some help in order to finish in the top four.

FSU (11-0, 8-0) is ranked No. 5 and would provide UofL with a huge resume win if the Cards can beat them next week in the ACC championship game. That task figures to be a little easier now that FSU quarterback Jordan Travis, who began his career at Louisville, is out for the season after sustaining a leg injury last week.

First things first, however, for the Cards: beat Kentucky on Saturday.

"After we let the last win sink in, we explained to our team yesterday that needs to be erased," head coach Jeff Brohm said during his Monday news conference. "The full focus needs to be on this game because in my opinion, this is the most important game for the rest of the season."

No teams in front of Louisville lost this past week. That will need to change for a path to open up allowing the Cardinals to enter the top four.

UofL fans should hope No. 6 Oregon, No. 7 Texas and No. 8 Alabama - all one-loss teams - suffer another defeat this week or next.

At least one team in the tour four is guaranteed to lose this week when No. 2 Ohio State takes on No. 3 Michigan.

Georgia is still No. 1.
